Singapore’s most iconic hotel – Marina Bay Sands – offers an experience, not just a room.

Part of that experience is the waterfront events plaza. A multifunctional space where guests can sit and enjoy the views of the bay or watch phenomenal night time lightshows.

Formed of six individual sections which can be raised or lowered on hydraulic jacks, the plaza is an attraction all of its own.

Project Lighting Design Singapore masterminded a spectacular concept. Their brief included unobtrusive illumination (avoiding bollards and columns) and lighting that could clearly define the paths – and steps – when operated in a tiered capacity.

Working with acdc’s distributor, CLA Singapore, Project Lighting Design opted for the compact linear VISTA luminaire.

Winner, winner

It’s winning characteristics? A clean, minimal appearance, uniformly diffused illumination, and shallow depth recessed installation. Most important was its very low surface heat when in operation – critical when the volume of pedestrians is considered.

Douglas Brennan, Design Director at Project Lighting Design commented: ‘PLD selected the product based on the specific application and their requirement for a product that achieved the necessary optical performance, ad equally important, a visually discreet installation. acdc’s VISTA satisfies both criteria.’
